‘They have brought shame on the institution’: MCC restricts members’ access to Lord’s pavilion after Ashes Test incident
Now the members will be unable to use the stairwell when teams are coming on or off the field.
The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on Thursday announced changes in Lord’s “Long Room,” following the altercation between the members and the Australian cricketers Usman Khawaja and David Warner on Day 5 of the second Ashes Test.
MCC has has since apologised unreservedly to the Australian team and now a new measures announced by MCC chairman Bruce Carnegie-Brown, players will be granted an expanded roped-off area as they walk through the Long Room. Three members were immediately suspended pending a full investigation.
Now the members will be unable to use the stairwell when teams are coming on or off the field. The rules will come into effect for Australia’s women’s T20 against England on Saturday.
